The Xootr Swift is a great bike, in fact we have one here that we use for running errands around town and it has become something of a staff favorite.
Admittedly it doesn't fold as small as some of the other bikes available, but if this is not your priority then it isn't a problem as the Swift's winning features are really the competent comfortable ride, and it's quirky design that just simply makes the bike fun.
Unlike many folding bikes which can use very specific parts, pretty much all of the components fitted are standard bicycle equipment, so if you are looking for a bike as a base to create your own custom creation then the Swift would provide a very good platform for this.
In use the bike rides very well, with a simple 8 speed deraillieur gear giving plenty of range around town, while mountain bike style 'v-brakes' provide effective and reliable braking.
The bike is very stiff to ride thanks to the unique way in which it folds, the folding rear frame section being clamped by a double quick release on the seat tube.
When folded, rather than providing a long rectangular 'suitcase' shape, the bike actually stands quite tall and narrow in comparison. This means you can use it to lean on when on the train, and because it's around waist height people are less likely to trip over the bike when in a crowded area as they would with other bikes that may sit on the floor out of site.
The aluminium frame is available in a choice of colours, either silver or blue.
