Dahon Mu SL 2007
At only 8.7kg (19.4 lbs) the Dahon Mu SL is the lightest production folding bike available today. The 7005 aluminium frame and alloy fork are complemented perfectly by the spectacular Kinetix Pro wheels, the front wheel featuring a suspension hub to soak up the bumps for a super plush ride. The rest of the equipment on the bike is of a similarly high quality; a Sram X9 derailleur shifts faultlessly though the 9 gears with an FSA Elita chain set up front to turn the pedals, which are actually removable from the crank via a quick release collar for an ultra quick compact fold. Adjustability of riding position is offered by the Syntace VRO handle bar stem, and the very light SDG saddle and seat post system. To fold the bike takes about 15 seconds, and with such a low weight the bike is a joy to hop on the bus or train with, and although not as small in it's folded dimension as a Brompton the lighter weight does more then make up for this in use, making the bike a lot easier to carry up stairs etc.
Performance, practicality, lightweight and style at amazingly good value, in our eyes the Mu SL really is a winner.
