The Dahon Mu P8, if you say it out loud it sounds like 'The Dahon Muppet' but we're not sure Dahon realise that. Phonetic accidents aside, the Mu P8 is actually a very good folding bike.
Designed around the same 'Mu' series frame as the more expensive Mu SL, the P8 replaces the long established Dahon Helios P8, a bike that has for a long time distinguished itself as a lynch pin in the Dahon range, and a benchmark in quality and value for money in the world of folding bikes at large.
So what more does the Mu P8 have to offer? Quite simply it carries forward all the same winning practical features of it's predecessor with a frame that is stiffer, lighter, and instantly more aesthetically appealing and stylish.
8 derailleur gears are operated easily via a Sram twist grip shifter, and offer a good range for most pursuits whether work or recreation. Light weight Kinetix Comp alloy wheels give the bike a very nimble feel off the mark, with Schwalbe's Marathon Racer tyre's being a perfect choice for riding on or off tarmac always offering an excellent combination of smooth rolling character with grip and puncture resistance. All the finishing kit on the P8 is of a similar high quality, and the height adjustable handlebar stem means you can customise the position to suit you with ease.
The £500 price band is a very competitive area for any folding bike to be in and there are a number of options from other manufacture that you will find on this site at this price point. The Helios P8 has always been a very strong player, and we have no doubt that the Mu P8 will be as well. Quite simply it is a much better bike for the same money as it's predecessor, and if that's not value then it would be hard to see what is!
