Perfect for around town, the commute or more recreational pursuits at the weekend. Gears are provided by the 8 speed Shimano Nexus hub gear for simple reliable shifting, while quality Avid V brakes bring you to a stop when the time comes.

As it's name suggests this is the bike that Birdy have marketed towards those that want to reach beyond the city limits.
A full range of 24 gears make this bike incredibly versatile. A deraillieur provides eight gears, which are then tripled by the hub gear to provide 24 duplicating that of a conventional triple chain set thus offering plenty of low gears for touring as well as a good range of high gears for cruising the open road!

Lightweight performance is the name of the day.
Using a mix of top-end Shimano LX and XT components the Speed keeps surplus weight to a minimum without compromising the Birdy's solid reputation for reliability.
Gears are kept simple with a straight 9 speed transmission, and as with all other Birdys the Speed can take mudguards and racks to make a more practical machine for commuting or load carrying.

The Birdy Rohloff is all about the amazing Rohloff hub gear which has 14-speeds giving a huge range - equivalent to a conventional 21-speed mountain bike. The indexing is controlled inside the hub which means you don't get the usual problems associated with poorly set up gears and sticky gear cables.
Originally designed for Downhill MTB Racing, the Rohloff has been adopted by recreational cyclist commuters and long distance tourers because of its efficient bomb proof design and longevity.
