The Joey uses a simplified folding design than the more expensive Chameleon which combined with carefully selected components keeps the purchase price down to a level to compete with Dahon and Brompton.
Still retaining the larger, more attractive 24in wheels as the Chameleon the ride is by far one of the most conventional of any of the folding bikes available. It takes less than a minute to fold thanks to quick-release handlebars and telescopic seat pin, and a bag is available to drop the bike into for more convenience when traveling. An 8-speed twist grip shifter with a Shimano deraillieur keeps the gearing simple while Shimano V brakes bring you to a composed confident stop.
As with the Chameleon, the Joey can accept mudguards,a rear rack and front low-rider rack if load carrying capacity is of a premium, and although the presence of a rear rack does increase the folded size it is one of the few folding bikes that can accept the use of conventional panniers while retaining heel clearance when pedaling.
